Manchester’s New Islington is an inner-city area of Manchester, in North West England. The regeneration project was conceived in the early 1990s by a group of local residents and businesspeople led by Tony Lloyd MP.

The aim of the regeneration was to create a new community in an area that had been derelict for many years, with the addition of new homes, businesses, public spaces and amenities. The first phase of the regeneration was completed in 2004, and since then New Islington has become a thriving area with a strong sense of community.

The regeneration has been widely praised, and has won numerous awards, including the UK’s Urban Renaissance Award in 2006.

New Islington is located just to the east of Manchester city centre, close to the neighbourhoods of Ancoats and Ardwick. It is bounded by Great Ancoats Street to the north, Pollard Street to the south, Oldham Road to the east and Great Ancoats Street to the west.

The area is well-connected to the rest of Manchester, with two tram stops on Great Ancoats Street and two railway stations (Piccadilly and Victoria) within walking distance.
