The Wigan Flashes Local Nature Reserve is managed by a partnership between Wigan Council and The Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside as part of a wider initiative called Greenheart.

Greenheart is an area at the centre of the Wigan Borough - the heart of Wigan - and it includes a range of Wigan’s most accessible and well-kept green spaces for you to use and enjoy. From parks to takes to woodlands there is something for everyone and lots of exciting opportunities to lead healthier and greener lives.
