Newtownabbey in County Antrim is a large settlement that was formed by the merging of several small villages, including Whiteabbey, Glengormley and Carnmoney. Newtownabbey surrounds Carnmoney Hill. It is separated from the rest of Belfast by Cavehill and Fortwilliam golf course
Newtownabbey has a population of over 60,000 people and is one of the largest settlements in Northern Ireland. Newtownabbey is a mainly residential area, with a strong retail and commercial sector. There are many schools and leisure facilities in Newtownabbey. Newtownabbey is twinned with three towns: Larne in Northern Ireland, Falkirk in Scotland and Bonn in Germany.
