Ancoats
Ancoats
Ancoats has undergone huge changes over the past few years, with new bars and restaurants popping up all over the place. But what about its history?
Ancoats was once known as ‘Little Italy’ because of the large number of Italian immigrants who settled there in the 19th century. Many of them were involved in the textile industry, which was booming at the time. But things have changed a lot since then and Ancoats is now a cool, hipster neighbourhood with a lot to offer.
If you want to learn more about Ancoats’ rich history, make sure to check out the Manchester Historic Buildings Trust. They offer walking tours of the area, which are a great way to explore everything that Ancoats has to offer.
