Wall Brown

Wall Brown

Latin name: Lasiommata megera

The Wall Brown butterfly is named after its habit of basking on walls, stones and rocks.

The Wall Brown’s prominent eye spots on the forewing distinguish it from Fritillary butterflies. Can be seen flying from May to October, in short open grassland, derelict land, disused quarries and field margins.
