Violet Ground Beetle
Latin name: Carabus violaceus
The Violet Ground Beetle can be identified by its strong violet sheen around its flanged edges of its fused wing cases and its thorax.
It is a fairly common beetle, found in grassland, farmland, woodland and gardens. Can be seen all year round, but most likely between March and October. They feed at night hunting slugs and other invertebrates.
