Meadow Brown
Latin name: Maniola jurtina
Very common and often seen in flight or resting with wings closed where the single spot on an orange background on the underside of the forewing is an easy identifier. The upper wings have a brown background that varies from dark to pale with a single spot on each forewing. The Meadow Brown lives in grassland and feeds on grasses.
