Large Bittercress

Latin name: Cardamine amara

Large Bittercress has white, occasionally purplish flowers, with blackish-purple anthers and a bright green hairless stem and leaves.

Bittercresses are thought of a small weeds which you see on paths and in gardens but the Large Bittercress is fairly tall at around 40 to 50 cm in height.

It flowers from April to June and can be found in damp habitats, on river and canal banks and marshes.

Found fairly frequently in Britain in suitable locations, especially in northern England and southern Scotland, but with very little in western Wales and northern Scotland.
