Evacanthus interruptus (Leafhopper)

Latin name: Evacanthus interruptus

A large, unmistakable and very striking black and yellow leafhopper. The black patterning is variable and the forewings are rarely entirely yellow. The wings are distinctly shorter than the abdomen in females.

The photo shows a female Leafhopper.

The adults can be seen from June to October and is found among grassland and scrubland.

It is fairly common throughout Britain.
