Chicken of the Woods

Chicken of the Woods or Sulphur Polypore

Latin name: Laetiporus sulphureus

A very large and brightly coloured lemon-yellow to orange fan shaped fungus. Found on deciduous trees from late spring to autumn. I know where a few of these grow and some are seen harvested in certain places. The one in the photos was on a tree close to High Bullough Reservoir until 2015 when the old tree fell over. Edible when young and fresh, a delicacy to some.
