Birkenhead is a Town in the county of Merseyside.
Birkenhead is a town at the Mersey estuary in England, on the Wirral peninsula. Historically part of Lancashire, Birkenhead was incorporated as a separate municipality in 1877.
Birkenhead is perhaps best known for the Ship Building Industry which once dominatedthe town and indeed the whole of the North West of England. The main ferry port fortravel to Ireland from Great Britain is located here and there are still many tall shipson view in the docks.
