Sandwich Bay by Vaughan Blundell
Sandwich Bay
Sandwich Bay is a quiet stretch of shingle and sand coastline on the east coast of Kent, just east of the historic town of Sandwich. Backed by low dunes and nature reserves, it’s a peaceful spot popular with walkers, birdwatchers, and those seeking a less crowded alternative to more commercial seaside towns. The bay is part of a protected area, including the Sandwich Bay to Hacklinge Marshes SSSI, known for its rich wildlife, especially migratory birds and rare plants. Access by car involves a private toll road, which helps keep the area relatively undeveloped and tranquil.
