Craig Cwm Sylin
Craig Cwm Sylin is in Snowdonia National Park in Wales.
Craig Cwm Silyn is one of the highest peaks on the Nantlle Ridge in Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, standing at 734 metres (2,408 feet). It’s a prominent and rugged summit known for its steep cliffs and excellent views. The name means “rock of the Silyn valley,” with “Cwm Silyn” referring to the glacial valley to its north-east.
This mountain is the highest point on the Nantlle Ridge and a key objective for many walkers tackling the full ridge traverse. The approach is typically rocky, with a well-defined path in places, but sections of the route involve some scrambling and exposed ground, especially to the east. The summit itself is broad and rocky, marked by a trig point and stone shelter.
From the top, on a clear day, you can see Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), Moel Hebog, and as far as the sea. To the west, the ridge continues towards Mynydd Graig Goch, while to the east it drops sharply towards Garnedd Goch and further along the ridge towards Y Garn (not to be confused with the better-known Y Garn near Ogwen).
Craig Cwm Silyn is less busy than many of Snowdonia’s central peaks, offering a wilder and more peaceful walking experience. It’s popular with experienced hillwalkers looking for a challenge and panoramic views without the crowds.
