Bedford School Chapel
Grade II* listed Bedford School Chapel was built in 1907, in the late Gothic Revival style by the architect George Frederick Bodley, one of the key 19th Century architects specialising in churches.
The chapel also contains what has been described as a ‘comprehensive collection’ of fixtures designed by Bodley before his death in 1907 - as the chapel was still under construction.
Built of English bond red brick with limestone dressing and a clay-tiled roof, Bedford School Chapel has a Nave with short-chancel, and interesting tower-porch and stair-turret to the southwest. The three-stage tower itself features single-light belfry windows and an embattled ashlar parapet.
Below the decorated, three-light window in the east-wall of the Chancel is a foundation stone dated 18th May 1907.
