Appletree Worth Mine Adit

In a large rock outcrop by the path along Appletree Worth Beck there is a small mine adit or trial entrance. Judging by the lack of easy access it appears this was never worked with modern equipment and may not have been used as a proper mine in production.

There is a small building shown in the old maps, in a field on the opposite side of the river and this may have been the colliery if this were a commercial mine.

Inside Appletree Worth Mine

It is possible - but probably dangerous - to enter the small adit and it looks quite dry inside.
